AI-Ready Website and E-commerce Development

Your customers no longer search only on Google; they also ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Google's AI answers. We build your site from the ground up so these assistants can read it, understand it, quote it and recommend it.

Short answer

An AI-ready website is one that assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Google's AI answers find crawlable, understandable and verifiable. UNIT İstanbul, through its Unit Software brand, builds these sites on a foundation that loads fast, carries complete structured data, keeps product and business information consistent and measures visits from AI.

What does an AI-ready website mean?

When someone asks ChatGPT "Which firm in Istanbul should I work with?" or asks Gemini "What is the best alternative to this product?", the assistant builds its answer from sources it reads on the web. Whether your site appears in that answer depends on whether the assistant can reach your site, whether it understands what you do from clear sentences, and whether what it reads is consistent with other sources.

An AI-ready site is one that meets these three conditions at the design and development stage. Sites that look good but build their content only with code running in the browser, load slowly, bury business information inside images or present inconsistent product details may still show up in search engines to some extent, yet they are often skipped in AI answers. UNIT İstanbul develops these sites under the Unit Software brand with its own software team.

What do AI assistants look for on a website?

Each assistant has its own method, but the common ground is clear. First the assistant has to reach the page, then it has to read the content as text, and finally it has to find what it reads trustworthy.

What is checkedOn a weak siteOn an AI-ready site
AccessCrawlers are blocked unintentionally by the robots file or a security settingWhich sections are open to search and AI crawlers is decided deliberately
ReadabilityContent is built by code after the page loads, so the first response is almost emptyText is rendered on the server, and the page arrives with its full content on the first request
MeaningWhat you do is conveyed through slogans and imagesServices, products, location and scope are described in clear sentences and with structured data
ConsistencyAddress, phone, price and stock details change from page to page or from profile to profileBusiness and product information comes from a single source and is the same everywhere
Answers to questionsThe questions customers ask are never answered on the siteFrequently asked questions are written with short, direct, quotable answers
MeasurementVisits from AI are invisibleTraffic from assistants is tracked and reported separately

Most of the items in this table are also the foundation of classic search engine optimisation. The difference is that AI answers do not just list a page; they lift sentences from it and pass them directly to the user. That is why content has to be not only findable but quotable.

What do we build into the technical foundation from the start?

  • Server-rendered pages: content arrives as full text on the first request, without waiting for crawlers to run any code.
  • Speed and Core Web Vitals targets: pages load fast on mobile, with no unnecessary scripts or heavy images.
  • Structured data: organisation, local business, service, product, offer, FAQ and breadcrumb markup is added in line with the actual content of each page.
  • Crawler access: the robots file, sitemaps and security settings are configured so they do not block search and AI crawlers by accident; which crawler gets access to what is decided together with you.
  • A summary file for AI: we prepare an llms.txt file that explains in plain text what the site is and which pages matter most.
  • Multiple languages: each language is published at its own address and the versions are linked with hreflang; instead of a straight translation, the text is written around the questions of that market.
  • Accessibility: heading hierarchy, descriptive link text and image descriptions make the meaning clear both for users with disabilities and for machines.

The site you are reading is a live example of this foundation. We built our own site on the same principles; we apply the method we offer to our own brand first.

What is different for e-commerce sites?

Shopping questions are among the questions AI assistants answer most often. A user may ask an assistant to compare products, suggest an option that fits a certain budget or say whether a store can be trusted. For an assistant to recommend a product, the product information has to be complete, consistent and machine-readable.

  • Product pages: what the product is, who it suits, its dimensions, materials and usage details are written in plain text rather than left only to images or tables.
  • Product data: price, stock, variants, brand and product code are marked up with product schema and match what the page shows.
  • Product feed: the product feed sent to platforms such as Google Merchant Center comes from the same source as the site, so price and stock never drift apart.
  • Trust information: shipping, returns, exchanges and payment terms are explained on separate, clear pages, and genuine customer reviews are shown on product pages.
  • Category pages: they carry short descriptions that work as a guide to choosing within the category, not just a list of products.

A new site, or fixing the one you have?

Not every site needs to be rebuilt. If your current platform can render content on the server, is fast and allows structured data to be added, moving forward with fixes and content work is often the better choice. A new site makes more sense in these situations:

  • The site's content is built only with code running in the browser, and the platform does not allow this to change.
  • Off-the-shelf themes and plugins slow the site down, and every update brings a new problem.
  • Product and business information is maintained by hand in more than one place and keeps falling out of sync.
  • You need to expand into new markets and languages, but the current structure does not support multiple languages.
  • The site is due for a redesign and the brand already needs a new face.

Before any decision, we review your current site and share in writing, with our reasoning, which path will deliver more benefit at lower cost. When moving to a new site, we prepare a URL mapping and redirect plan to protect your existing rankings.

Is a website enough on its own?

To be frank, no. When AI assistants recommend a company, they do not look only at that company's website; they also look at map profiles, directories, customer reviews and how the brand is mentioned on other sites. An AI-ready site is the foundation of this process: it becomes the first and most reliable source the assistant reads about you. But signals beyond your site also shape the decision to recommend you.

That is why we usually plan the site together with off-site work. We manage visibility in AI answers through our GEO and AIO services, and map and local search through local SEO. If you are wondering why your brand does not appear in AI answers, our article Why is my brand not in ChatGPT? is a good place to start.

How are results measured?

AI visibility cannot be measured with a single number. Before launch, we work with you to list the questions customers in your sector ask assistants. These questions are asked at regular intervals in ChatGPT, Gemini and Google's AI answers, and we record whether your brand is mentioned, which sources are shown and whether your site is cited as a source.

On the site side, visits from assistants are tracked as a separate channel in analytics, and we report whether these visits turn into form submissions, calls or sales. Impressions for question-style searches are also followed with Search Console data. That way you judge the impact of the investment on records, not guesswork.

How can you find out where your site stands today?

For a quick overview of how search and AI visibility fit together, our article on the differences between SEO, AEO, GEO, AIO and GEM is a useful starting point. If you would like a more detailed assessment, share your site's address through our contact page; our team will check your site and a few key questions from your sector in AI assistants and prepare a free initial check note.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an AI-ready website?
It is a website whose content assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Google's AI answers can reach, whose text they can read easily and whose information they find consistent. Its pages are rendered on the server, load fast, are marked up with structured data and carry content that answers customers' questions directly.
Will a new website make AI recommend me?
Not on its own. When assistants recommend a company, they look beyond the website at reviews, map profiles, directories and how the brand is mentioned on other sites. An AI-ready site lays the foundation for this; to improve the likelihood of being recommended, we usually plan the site together with GEO and AIO work.
Can I make my current site AI-friendly without rebuilding it?
Often, yes. If your platform can render content on the server and allows structured data to be added, it is possible to move forward with changes to crawler access, structured data, speed and content. In the initial check, we share in writing, with our reasoning, which path is the right one.
How does my e-commerce site show up in ChatGPT shopping recommendations?
For an assistant to recommend a product, the product information has to be complete, consistent and machine-readable. We write product pages in clear text, mark up price, stock and variant details with product schema, feed the product feed from the same source as the site, and explain shipping and returns terms on clear pages.
Should I block AI crawlers?
That is a business decision. Some crawlers read content only to cite it as a source in answers, while others collect it for model training. We explain which crawler works for which purpose, keep access open where you want to be visible and configure the rest according to your preference.
What does the free initial check cover?
We check whether your site is open to AI and search crawlers, whether content is rendered on the server, and review its structured data and speed. We also ask AI assistants a few key questions about your sector, check whether your brand is mentioned and share the findings in a short note.
Will I lose my current Google rankings when the site is migrated?
With a properly planned migration, this risk is greatly reduced. We map every old URL to a new one, set up permanent redirects, preserve the content of pages that rank and monitor Search Console data closely after launch.
Which languages do you offer this service in?
We develop sites in Turkish, English, German, Spanish and Arabic. Each language is published at its own address and linked to the others with hreflang. The text is not simply translated; it is adapted to the questions and search habits of customers in that market.
